Govt. of Goa issued a notification regarding Paid Holiday for Panchayat Bye-Election

The Government of Goa, vide notification dated 25 February 2026, has declared Sunday, 08 March 2026, as a Paid Holiday in connection with the Panchayat Bye-Election in specified wards. The declaration has been made under Section 40A(1) of the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994, enabling eligible voters to exercise their franchise without loss of wages. The paid holiday applies to: Employees working in any business, trade, industrial undertaking, or establishment in Goa Daily wage and casual workers Employees of Government departments and State industrial undertakings This paid holiday is in addition to the previously notified general holidays for 2025. Employers are advised to ensure full wage protection and compliance with the notification.
