Surat Gets a Major Healthcare Boost: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Virtually Inaugurates ESIC's 220 Bedded Hospital

The healthcare infrastructure for insured workers in Gujarat has received a major boost with the inauguration of the 220-bedded Employees’ State Insurance Corporation Hospital at Surat. The hospital was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 05 June 2026, along with other development projects.

Built over an 8.60-acre campus at a project cost of around ₹216 crore, the new ESIC hospital is expected to serve nearly 3.20 lakh Insured Persons and approximately 12.16 lakh beneficiaries under the ESI Scheme in the Surat region.

The inauguration also highlighted the dignity of labour, as construction workers involved in building the hospital were felicitated, and ESI cash benefits were directly disbursed to beneficiaries.
