The Ministry of Labour and Employment, by Notification S.O. 5206(E) dated 22 September 2026, has appointed 1 October 2026 as the date from which employer and employee contributions under Section 29 of the Code on Social Security, 2020 become payable for establishments in specified districts of Madhya Pradesh. From that date, the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) will also provide benefits under Chapter IV to employees of those establishments.
The notification covers one non-implemented district, Niwari, and 24 partially implemented districts.

Partially implemented districts: Agar Malwa, Alirajpur, Anuppur, Ashoknagar, Balaghat, Barwani, Betul, Chhatarpur, Damoh, Datia, Harda, Jhabua, Mandla, Narsinghpur, Panna, Rajgarh, Seoni, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Sidhi, Tikamgarh, Umaria, Vidisha and Dindori.
What employers should note
For establishments in the listed districts, the notification sets 1 October 2026 as the start date for the specified contribution liability and ESIC benefits. Employers should review their establishment locations and employee records, and prepare to meet applicable registration, contribution and related compliance requirements from that date.
