Ms. No. 4 dated 15 March 2026, has granted permission to all shops and commercial establishments to operate round the clock (24×7) throughout the year, subject to adherence to prescribed employee welfare and safety measures. Key Compliance Requirements: Weekly Off: Every employee must be provided with one day of weekly holiday on a rotational basis. Wage Payment: Wages, including overtime, must be disbursed strictly through bank accounts, ensuring transparency and statutory compliance. Display of Records: Employers are required to display details of working hours, shifts, and leave records at a conspicuous place within the establishment. Overtime Regulations: All provisions relating to working hours and overtime must be strictly complied with as per the applicable law. Employment of Women in Night Shifts (8:00 PM to 6:00 AM): Employment is permitted subject to the following safeguards: Prior written consent of the employee Adequate lighting and security arrangements, including CCTV surveillance Provision of necessary facilities and basic amenities Display of emergency and helpline contact numbers Full compliance with applicable safety laws Professional Insight: This notification is a progressive step towards enhancing business flexibility and supporting extended commercial operations in Puducherry.
