Exemption under Sikkim Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1983

The Government of Sikkim has issued Notification No. 11/LD/2025, granting exemption to all shops and commercial establishments employing 20 or fewer employees/workers from the applicability of the Sikkim Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1983. However, establishments availing this exemption are required to intimate the Labour Department in Form-I within three months from the date of commencement of business. This measure aims to reduce regulatory compliance for small establishments while ensuring that the Labour Department continues to maintain basic records of such businesses operating in the State.
