Govt. of Maharashtra directs districts to conduct POSH Internal Committee (IC) Audit

The Maharashtra State Commission for Women has directed all districts in Maharashtra to conduct a special audit of Internal Committees (ICs) constituted under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. District authorities have been instructed to verify whether organisations— including government departments, semi-government bodies, local authorities, corporations, autonomous institutions, and private establishments—have properly constituted and functioning Internal Committees. The audit will examine: Proper constitution of the Internal Committee (IC) Complaints received and actions taken Pending cases and reasons for delay Implementation of disciplinary decisions Submission of annual reports POSH awareness and training programmes Display of mandatory POSH information boards at workplaces Where Internal Committees are not constituted or incomplete, authorities will direct immediate compliance and may initiate legal action for violations of the POSH Act. The audit report must be submitted to the Commission within 30 days.
