Important Labour Code Update: Appointment of Inspector-cum-Facilitators under OSH & WC Code, 2020

The Ministry of Labour & Employment, vide Gazette Notification No. S.O. 2513(E) dated 13 May 2026, has appointed Assistant Labour Commissioners (Central) and Labour Enforcement Officers (Central) as Inspector-cum-Facilitators under Section 34(1) of the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020. The appointments have been made jurisdiction-wise across various States / Union Territories and major regions such as Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Delhi, Chandigarh, etc. Employer Action Point: Employers covered under the Central sphere should review and maintain proper compliance records relating to registration, licences, contractors, safety, health, welfare, working conditions and statutory registers under the OSH & WC Code framework. Note: This notification is a key step towards implementation and enforcement of the OSH & WC Code, 2020 through the newly designated Inspector-cum-Facilitators
