Odisha Repeals Professional Tax Act, 2000

The Government of Odisha has repealed the Odisha State Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employments Act, 2000 through the Repeal Ordinance, 2026, effective from 1st April 2026. Accordingly, Professional Tax will no longer be applicable in Odisha from 1st April 2026. However, any past dues, notices, assessments, returns, or legal proceedings for the period prior to repeal will continue to remain valid and enforceable. Employer Note: Employers should stop Odisha PT deduction from April 2026 onwards, while ensuring all earlier liabilities up to March 2026 are properly reconciled.
