The Government of Haryana, vide Notification No. 1236, has declared a paid holiday on 10th May 2026, the poll day in connection with the general / bye-elections for Panchayat Raj Institutions and Municipal Bodies. Key Compliance Point for Employers: All shops, commercial establishments, factories, and other eligible establishments in Haryana are required to grant a paid holiday to employees who are entitled to vote in the concerned election areas, in line with applicable election and labour law provisions. Practical Employer Advisory: Verify whether your establishment or employees fall within the notified polling jurisdiction. Ensure eligible employees are allowed paid leave for voting on the declared poll day. Avoid wage deductions for such leave where applicable under election holiday provisions.
