The Government of Tripura, on 25 August 2026, notified the Tripura Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Rules, 2026, under the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020 (OSHWC Code).
The final Rules have been issued after considering the objections and suggestions received from stakeholders on the draft rules published on 20 January 2026.

The Tripura OSHWC Rules, 2026 provide the detailed State-level regulatory framework for implementation of the OSHWC Code in Tripura.
The Rules consolidate and supersede several earlier labour rules applicable in the State concerning, among others:

Contract Labour
Inter-State Migrant Workers
Building and Other Construction Workers
Plantations
Motor Transport Workers
Beedi and Cigar Workers
Safety Officers
Welfare Officers
Occupational safety, health and welfare requirements
Rationalisation of forms, registers and compliance procedures
Compliance Impact
Employers, contractors, factories and other establishments falling within the scope of the OSHWC Code, 2020 in Tripura should now review their existing compliance framework in light of the newly notified Rules.
The notification may have implications for areas such as:

Working conditions and working hours
Health, safety and welfare facilities
Employment of contract labour
Inter-State migrant workers
Appointment of safety and welfare personnel
Maintenance of statutory registers and records

Supersession of Earlier Rules
The Rules also supersede the earlier State labour rules specifically identified in the notification.
However, actions already taken, completed or omitted under the repealed rules before their supersession will continue to be protected in accordance with the saving provisions contained in the notification.
Effective Date
The Tripura Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Rules, 2026 have come into force with effect from:
