The Code on Wages, 2019

Overview

The Code on Wages universalizes minimum wage and bonus provisions to all employees across all sectors. It introduces a new definition of 'wages' where basic pay and dearness allowance must constitute at least 50% of total remuneration. This has significant implications for salary structuring, EPF/ESIC contributions, and gratuity calculations.
