Leave & Working Hours in Uttar Pradesh
- Sick leave
15 days once 6 months of continuous service are complete.
Carry forward is not applicable.
- Casual leave
10 days. Subject to the conditions the state rules prescribe.

- Earned / privilege leave
15 days once 12 months of continuous service are complete. Up to 45 days may be accumulated.
Carry forward is capped by the 45-day accumulation limit.
- Normal working hours
9 hours a day and 48 hours a week.
- Rest interval
A half-hour break after 5 hours of work.
- Maximum overtime
Capped at 144 hours a quarter.
- Spread-over
12 hours a day, start to finish.
- Overtime wage rate
Twice the ordinary wage rate.
- Quarter
A quarter is three months beginning on 1 January, 1 April, 1 July or 1 October.
- Ordinary Rate of Wages
Basic wages plus allowances, including the cash value of any food or other concession, but not bonus.
